Mazda has started orders for the EZ-6 sedan
Mazda has started taking orders for its new electric sedan, the EZ-6. The car, which is offered in both fully electric and extended range (EREV) versions, attracts attention with its competitive price. Taking a big step into the Chinese market, Mazda will compete with rivals such as Tesla Model Y.
The starting price of Mazda EZ-6 will be around 25 thousand dollars. This price makes the EZ-6 one of the most affordable electric sedans in China. Cheaper than rivals such as Nissan Sylphy EV and Volkswagen ID.4, the model can make a significant impact on the market with its price.
Despite its affordable price, Mazda offers the EZ-6 with standard and optional equipment options. Even the entry-level version comes with leather upholstery. Higher trim levels include leather and suede surfaces, a 14-speaker Sony sound system and 64-color lighting.
The EZ-6 will be available with a choice of 56 or 69 kWh batteries, providing an estimated range of 370 to 480 km. Those who want a longer range will be able to buy versions that combine a small gasoline engine with an electric powertrain and offer a range of over 800 km.
The new EZ-6 is a critical model for Mazda’s growth strategy in the Chinese market. Time will tell if the affordable and well-equipped electric sedan will be a success.
